WHERE IS THE TOMB?

It is one of the most important historical heritages in Bilecik. It is in the hilly area above the Orhan Gazi Mosque. Osman Gazi, who had great respect for scholars and sufis because of the characteristics they brought from Central Asia, would go to Edebalı’s lodge on blessed days and get his views on religious and administrative matters.

The dream he had during the night he stayed as a guest was as follows. Well, a month came out of Edebalı’s bosom and entered his own bosom. A tree has grown from his chest. It became such a big tree that its branches covered the sky and its roots covered the whole world. His shadow covered the whole earth. People gathered under the shade of that tree. Osman Bey tells his dream to Sheikh Edebalı. Edebalı interprets the dream as follows: “Son Osman, God Almighty has given you and your descendants sovereignty, blessed be my daughter Malhun Hatun, may you be halal.” Upon this interpretation of Edebalı, Osman Gazi Malhun Hatun (Rabia He marries Bala Hatun).

Sheikh Edebalı was the head of the ahi organization. It is not known to whom the Ahi Şehitlik passed after Edebalı; however, it was later transferred to Murat I. After the conquest of Bilecik by the Ottomans, Edebalı, who moved his lodge here, continued his religious services in the same way.
